What personal data we collect and why we collect it
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
If you submit any content via our Contact Us form, you will need to provide at least your first name and an e-mail address – this is so that we may respond to your enquiry. The e-mail address will not be stored on our website nor in our database and will only be used for the purposes of replying to your message. After your enquiry is dealt with, your e-mail address will be stored in the e-mail client of whomever responds to your message but will not be used outside of the context of that enquiry and once your enquiry is dealt with, the conversation will be deleted.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you make a purchase using a credit card, your credit card data will be processed by Stripe and we will not have access to any of that information, aside from knowing whether the payment was successful or not. Any data explicitly collected by us will not be shared with any third party at all except where required by law and under court order / subpoena for the prevention and detection of crime.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
If you make a purchase, your data will be held for a period of 7 years to fulfil our tax obligations. Should you wish that data to be removed, we will remove such data as we can to fulfil your requirements but some information may have to be retained for tax reasons. This data will never be shared with any third party.
